Brief History
India played its first Test match on June 25, 1932, against England at Lord's. The team had to wait until 1952 for its first Test victory, against England in Madras (now Chennai). Over the years, India has produced some of the greatest Test cricketers, including Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rahul Dravid. In 2009, India reached the number one ranking in Test cricket for the first time.
