One Day International (ODI) Cricket
Brief History
India played its first ODI match on July 13, 1974, against England at Headingley. The team's biggest achievement in this format came in 1983 when they won the Prudential World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, beating the mighty West Indies in the final. India repeated this feat in 2011, winning the ICC Cricket World Cup on home soil under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. These victories, along with consistent performances, have established India as a powerhouse in ODI cricket.
